They say Club Med Seychelles is "Eden," and every person you meet at the entrance warmly greets you with "Welcome to Eden." No words could have been more accurate for our vacation, but not because of the breathtaking views, vibrant colors, or picture-perfect photos. It was true for us because of the incredible, deeply human, and helpful staff members we met during a very challenging time.
We arrived as a whole family group of 18, with my husband and me as a couple within the group. I am a traveler with a disability following a recent accident, relying on a mobility scooter to get around a resort that is all about long distances and travel. On top of this difficult physical challenge, another hardship hit us when, out of the entire plane, my suitcase was the only one that didn’t arrive—containing specialized equipment and essential medical aids for my condition.
Exhausted from the flight and overwhelmed, the first person we met was Yarden from reception, who accompanied us on the ferry to the resort. Seeing me in tears, she immediately offered a dose of optimism in a sea of despair, doing her best to encourage us. When we learned that night that my luggage wouldn’t arrive for the entire vacation, Yarden supported us, offered to help with shopping, and even proposed joining me to a nearby island's shopping center on her day off. Throughout our entire stay, Yarden was always there for us—constantly a listening ear, helping in any way she could, always with a warm smile, immense generosity, and a genuine heart.
Also at reception, the wonderful Tomer heard about our situation from my husband and simply said, "Brother, whatever you need, I am here for you." Every time we called and Tomer answered, he acted as fast and best as he could to ensure our well-being.
On our first entry to the main restaurant, we met the resort’s Chief of Village, Yannis, and his deputy, Nate. We briefly explained our situation, and they immediately mobilized. We watched them write down details, make phone calls, and do everything in their power to support us. Their presence throughout our stay was impossible to miss; they directed staff to assist us, constantly checked on our well-being, and greeted us with warm smiles and hugs. The wonderful atmosphere among the staff is a direct result of Yannis and Nate's exceptional leadership, making both guests and employees feel completely at home. Every employee we asked praised them dearly and shared that Club Med feels like home to them. Huge kudos!
To add to our ordeal, the day after we arrived, my husband injured his back while trying to help unload my scooter from the resort transport vehicle and was completely unable to stand up. He was quickly taken to the resort clinic, where the medical team treated him with utmost dedication until he had to be evacuated to the main hospital on the island. We want to express our immense gratitude to Rachel, the head nurse, who took care of him so faithfully. Special thanks also go to another wonderful staff member in a management role at the clinic, who supported him throughout the vacation, constantly cheered him up, ensured he got proper rest, and personally made sure he wasn't left without meals in the room when he couldn't walk to dinner after returning from the hospital.
We also met the lovely Megan, who was a wonderful listening ear for everything that happened to us. She went out of her way to check through various channels—even those outside her direct area of responsibility—to see how she could help and who to contact so people would be aware of our situation and needs. We discovered a woman who is all heart.
The waitstaff also deserves special recognition. In places like this, it is easy for staff to blend into the background, but the dining team worked phenomenally. They constantly checked if we needed anything and cleared dishes proactively. With my difficulty moving around the buffet on my scooter, staff members frequently offered to carry my plate and walk with me. Alice, the manager at Turtle Cove, was always available with a smile, guiding me to the most accessible tables. Monika, our lovely breakfast waitress, brightened the room with her warm smile. At Reef Restaurant, we received charming and humorous service from the beautiful Jamila, who kindly warned me about the bread-stealing birds (a warning I should have taken more seriously!).
A huge heartfelt thank you goes to the magical team of buggy drivers who took close care of us throughout the trip. They arrived quickly, waited patiently for me to load the scooter without ever rushing us, and always showed genuine care. Deepest thanks to Davin, who was always there for us; to Yuri, who personally made sure to drive us to see, pet, and feed the giant tortoises; and to Janel, who on a dark night silently drove behind my scooter just to light the path so I wouldn't struggle or feel afraid. That silent gesture showed how deeply he saw me as a human being in a moment of need. We also send our gratitude to another wonderful driver whose name escapes us, but who helped us immensely.
Due to our physical condition and injuries, our activity options were extremely limited. Yet, we made it to archery, where we met Mark. Never in any Club Med have we met an instructor like Mark, whose precise and professional guidance had us hitting bullseyes and having a fantastic time despite our constraints.
In water sports, my physical limitations initially caused me great frustration, as enjoying the ocean was the main reason I wanted to come. Then we met Alon. Seeing my pain, Alon thought outside the box, gently helped me onto a catamaran, and personally sailed us out so I could feel the wind, waves, and joy. Despite long lines on the beach, he prioritized making sure I could experience the sea safely. Alon is a massive asset to your resort and a model for creative empathy.
We saved the very best for last, as this person deserves special recognition: Liam. Liam from reception was with us hand-in-hand from the moment we landed until the final seconds of our departure. When we arrived exhausted and upset after our lost luggage, Liam extended a hand and a heart, personally escorted us to our room, brought me a shirt for the next morning, and assured us he would do everything to help. Throughout the vacation, he closely managed all administration regarding our luggage, paperwork, and my husband’s medical visits. He even offered his personal phone number so we could reach him off duty and shared a winning tip—that the tortoises love hibiscus flowers—which became our favorite daily activity. Even after we landed back home, he messaged us to make sure we arrived safely and retrieved our bags. If Club Med management ever considers who to promote to the next managerial level, Liam is the absolute answer. An employee and human like him is a priceless gift.
Club Med Seychelles, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the humanity, optimism, energy, and joy you gave us. We will never forget this trip, and we choose to focus on the beautiful, uplifting moments made possible entirely by these extraordinary people. Thank you.
